Lo

I’m a beginner plant lover and repotted my monstera into a pot that is way too large. It’s been droopy ever since and that was about 3 months ago. Should I repot again into something smaller or best to wait until spring? Thanks!

I would go ahead and repot, monstera like to be a little snug in my experience!

Really up to you. I'd just make sure it's watered well when you water. It doesn't look like it's doing bad, especially if it was 3 months again.

The soil looks not quite right for this. I see that it’s droopy so something isn’t quite right, you’re correct about that. Monstera prefer chunky well draining soil — so lots of bark and perlite added at least, coco chunks are good too. if the soil was right i would encourage you to leave it alone and just water carefully/sparingly until the roots get more established because repotting is stressful, but this appears to be in a bathroom where humidity is higher, and it’s in a plastic pot, so i worry that soil willl hold onto too much moisture and lead to gnats or (worse) rot

In my experience of making this exact same mistake, I’d repot and take extra care with those roots. Definitely get it in a smaller pot if you can with very well draining soil (add perlite or orchid bark). I’ve honestly done this before, problem I think is that the soil around the plant will hold onto the water and there aren’t enough roots in the pot to drink it so it stays wet and the roots begin to rot. I say repot to a size that’s more snug for the root system in better draining media and maybe give the roots a little sprinkling with root hormone just to try make them a bit happier again.

    It’s currently in a 12inch pot, should I go down to 6, 8, or 9 inch?

I’ve heard, however big your root ball size is, go with a pot that’s 2” inches bigger. For example: 6” diameter root ball, 8” diameter pot.
