i NEEEEED help please. i moved my monstera to chunky soil & placed her outside bc she didn't seem to be getting the light she needed inside without burning her leaves. whyyyy does she look so sad? i have water & fed her, she is more shaded then directly in the sun. - do i bring her back inside? - is my moss pole on the wrong side? - also concerned with why the new leaves would have spots on them before opening? like help please. my first monstera my husband got me & i adore her so i am trying everything.

    That pot looks way too big; it'll probably end up overwatered if it hasn't already by sounds of spots on new leaves before they open

      i had it in a way smaller pot & the first new leaf came out with brown on it. i just watered it today after repotting it here. i hate to like move it again & then it freaks or something? i had a friend tell me 12-18 size pot, so thats what i got but what should this size be in?

    You only need a pot with 1-2inch around the plants root ball. Im wondering if your friend meant a 12-18cm pot, rather then 12-18in pot?

      I have no idea, girl I just went and got this big pot and put it in there maybe about a week ago so I don't really know but I do have a smaller pot and I was gonna move it over to that. I'm unsure. Should I leave it outside or should I bring it back inside

      This is my current monstera, which is in a 18cm pot atm.

    Where do u live, what season r u currently in? That will help decide whether to take it back inside or not. Im in Australia, so we r currently having cold weather so any of my favourite plants are being bought back inside or put into outside plant tent. However having said that, my monstera never goes outside & it doesn't receive any direct sun at all, only what light comes through the curtained windows

    i'm in louisiana, it's spring ish rn? i will more than likely bring it back inside. i'm going to post pic now of what i moved it too & how it's wrapped up

    I would agree to reduce the size of the pot to avoid overwatering. The second monstera’s pot looks smaller even though the plants look about the same size

    As other people are saying Monstera's are very picky about the size of the planter. I get not wanting to dig it up again, however, too much space is exceedingly risky. You don't need to know the exact size of the root ball. When you transplanted it, was there plenty of space? If so it's very likely too much and your Monstera needs to be transplanted back to a smaller pot.

      so i moved it to the smaller pot, there still is a lot of room around for like growth, but so does it need to go to a different pot? i have decorative pots open lol, but im scared its dying & i dont want that to happen

      When you transplanted it recently did you use a soil mixture with around 50% chunky parts? In terms of the planter itself I'll use myself as an example. When I got my first monstera I learned to think about transplanting in comparison to other plants. If I was transplanting a pathos into the same planter and the extra space was so small to hardly be worth it then it's probably perfect amount for a Monstera.

      i use a chunky soil mix, i think it was bc i watered it & as the girl said above the pot was to big so now its trying to dry out & is like wilted looking? if that makes sense. i have a feeling i may need to go one pot size smaller but i want to get it out of shock before i do that.
