This is my monstera “Queen” I got Queen from a local grocery store and this is my first time taking care of a monstera is there any tips or advice on what I could do to make Queen last years on

    They like bright, indirect sunlight and can tolerate some direct sunlight. They can also tolerate lower light conditions if there’s a bright window nearby (it will just grow slower and need water less frequently). Monsteras like chunky soil mix so adding perlite (looks like white styrofoam-type material), peat moss, and/or orchid bark to an indoor soil mix is usually recommended. This prevents the soil from retaining too much water and drowning the roots, which can cause root rot. Water only when the top 1-2 inches or 1/3 of the soil is dry. You can buy a moisture meter, use your finger, or use a plastic/wooden stake to push down into the soil to check. For the stake method: figure out where 1/3 down into the soil is on the outside of the pot, push the stake all the way down, pull back out. If the stake is dry (no soil sticking to it) above the 1/3 mark it’s ready to water, if it has soil sticking to the stake above the 1/3 mark the soil is still wet and you should wait and let it dry out more. It looks like it’s in a nursery pot with drainage holes right now, so I would pull it out of the decorative pot to water it and then put it back. Fully drench the pot and until water runs out the bottom so all the soil gets wet, let it drain the excess, and then put it back in the decorative pot.
