So I found a very very low var albo a few months ago. Decided to give it a chop and put it in moss. It gave me a new leaf about 3 weeks ago. I kept waiting for the new leaf to darken and it is staying a neon green even though it has hardened and been 3 weeks. What is going on with this? I have never had this happen with any of my regular monsteras or albos. Thanks for any help!

Thank you! I was hoping for a little white variegation on the new leaf but I got a neon green one! I think it still looks cool I was just a little surprised!

Maybe with more sunlight you’ll get more white? I don’t have an albo but I really want one!

You dont by chance live in the Chicago area do you? If you did I would give you a few albo cuttings I am rooting! Love sharing with people!

Might still be hardening a bit, even though it’s been a few weeks. As for the variegation, do you notice any streaks or white in the stem at all? Usually you’ll see candy cane striping on an albo, and the more white you see the more variegation you get (for the most part). If that cutting only has green nodes, you may not see the variegation return for a while, maybe not at all.

not much striping on the stem unfortunately! There was only a little white on these leaves but it was $20 so I figured this is just a practice one ( I have a high variegated one that I could never chop) and I did not mind chopping this one apart! Thanks for all the help! I will give it more time to harden….. This albo may just be a “dud” but its been fun to try some chopping and see what happens!

For sure, it’s still a good learning experience and the plant itself is still beautiful. Just keep at it and see if the variegation decides to pop back in!

it could be another genetic mutation. maybe it decided it wants to be neon now 🤷‍♂️ but like the other commenter said it may just be taking a while to fully develop

i'd assume it's an unstable variation and that's why they aren't sold in that variety, but it certainly can happen. the most similar one i can think of that's actually sold is monstera aurea
