I’d like to introduce my monstera, Ophelia. She was a Sam’s Club find 2 weeks ago and I have been waiting to repot since she’s been thriving. But, the time is coming due to lack of drainage holes. I have a mixture I’ve been using for my other plants of indoor soil (one for tropical plants), perlite, and orchid bark. I’m new to the plant life and I’m looking suggestions on how to keep my new babies thriving. What is your best soil mixture suggestion? And any tips on how you’ve grown yours taller? On the left is today and the right is the day I got her.

    🎵 O-O-phelia ♥️ Beautiful! Those 3 ingredients are great and enough if you want to mix it yourself & keep things simple. There are lots of amazing aroid mixes out there as well - Rosy, Sol, Molly’s, etc… I mix my own & get ridiculous with it 🤓 because I can’t help myself. The options are truly endless. For height you’ve got to have good light, a support for it to attach to and climb, and a regular feeding routine. All my plants have grow lights, my climbers have moss poles, and I feed every time I water. You don’t have to do a moss pole for support, you could do a good sturdy trellis or cedar plank, to name a few options. I highly recommend “For the Love of Houseplants” by Tanner Mitchell for beginners. He cuts through all the vague nonsense of plant advice & makes plant care knowledge truly accessible.

    Follow kill this plant on YouTube. He is very knowledgeable about monstera and gives great advice. Plenty of light and support and soil mix will have it thriving in no time.
