I bought a baby Monstera Deliciosa a few days ago. I’ve been reading up and watching tonnes of care videos, but they all seem to be about older/larger plants. Why does my baby look so bushy? Do I need to separate them? Is it too young to separate? I just want my plant to be happy and healthy, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

a lot of the time greenhouses start plants by simply sowing a handful of seeds in a pot. it looks like your plant started like so, from many densely-planted seeds. you can thin them out when you repot if you like. what i would do for now, if it were my plant, is add a small trellis behind the stems so they all have something to lean on. your monstera has a face, the leaf side, which should point towards the light source, and a back side, which should face the support. it may be helpful to find a video online for a more thorough, visual explanation.

Thank you! I will get a support in there asap.

I’ve got a younger and older one I don’t treat them any different they stay outside under my patio not in direct light and every couple weeks to a month fertilize it. And let it mostly dry out before watering. And yes a nice trellis behind the plant for now. She will do great she is a beauty. Good luck and have fun.

I think putting them on a trellis early, will help the leaves size up faster. I just got a cluster of monstera aswell- i separated them all individually (into different sized pots), and gave most of them a nice stick to attach to. You can keep them together, or separate. When together they do have to fight for nutrients though. I decided to separate because the leaves were overlapping and too clustered, they werent getting enough light. Now I have 3 for me, 2 for my family, and 3 for my friend and her family!

Yeah, I’m leaning toward separating then trellising. I just don’t want the plants to become unruly/unmanageable down the road.

Agreed, the roots also get more and more entangled… I had to rip a few

I like to keep mine as one singular stalk. You’ve got lots of leaves and perhaps multiple plants in there. You can trim and separate 👍🏻
