Hi everyone! I would really appreciate some advice on helping out my sad monstera albo. It’s a top cutting that I purchased in early November. I potted it in a well-draining tropical soil mix when it arrived (realize now that I perhaps should have put it in water for a bit instead). The leaves have been droopy the whole time, but I see two small aerial roots developing near the coir pool. I don’t water often (I’m using a plant water meter and a chopstick to test). I mist regularly and keep the humidity at 60% minimum. I’ll greatly appreciate any support you can offer! Thank you!

    I would check the roots for rot. I had a Thai con look like this and it was due to the roots being rotten off completely therefore it was unable to take in water. I removed all the roots and rot, propagated in water with rooting hormone until new roots grew. Then repotted in soil. Good luck!!

      Thank you SO much! How much rooting hormone wound you recommend I add to the water?

      You are most welcome! Regarding the rooting hormone, look at the recommendations on the package. All the products most likely have a unique dosage recommendation based on the strength of the product. If the product gives you a couple different dosages, I would pick the stronger one for water propagation. I used a combination of clonex clone solution and rapid start by general hydroponics.

      Clonex is made by growth technologies. When I run out of rapid start, I will switch to using growth technologies route zone instead, but this current mixture for me works really well.

    Hi again Motoxgirl17! My albo is now in water! I cleaned up the roots and it looks like some of them are OK? I didn’t end up cutting anything because I wanted to show you first. 😊 Will you let me know what you think needs to be cut?

    She needs water and sunshine. When you plant a cutting straight to soil, it’s tough but you can do it. Lots of water. Lots. Don’t worry about root rot for the first couple of weeks. Once roots are established cut back and watch your water meter. Good luck & happy planting! 🪴💚
