So when you want to prop, always include a node or joint in your cutting if you want it to actually grow. I didn't know such a thing was possible until this year(lol I should say last year) , as it's only happened to me once. I accidentally broke some leaves and included them in a bouquet that was already existing as to not waste them. One of them managed to grow roots. This is called a zombie cutting. It's when a stem with no growth point or node manages to push out roots, but it will never grow. It will remain a single leaf for the rest of its life. I was so shocked and confused, but yes apparently that can happen. Tmil

When you cut it, let it dry out and callous first before putting it in water - helps avoid it from rotting. Time varies on how thick the stem is but a few hours usually is ok! Also let it grow its roots until it produces a secondary root (when a root growth branches off) at that point it’ll have more success when bringing back to soil! If you have a Pothos, adding a cutting of that to the same jar helps stimulate root growth since those prop easy, seemed to work for me lol
