This is my first ever monstera, i repotted her a few weeks ago after giving her time to acclimate, now when i water her the water just sits at the top of the soil, veryyy slow draining. tried mixing up the soil, poking to create some air, no luck. i don’t want her roots to rot, should i repot her again with chunkier soil? maybe put her in water for a few weeks?

All monstera’s like a chunkier, well aerated soil. How you make it chunky is up to you. I have large perlite and medium orchid bark in mine

If you do repot, put it in a smaller pot. Monsteras love being snug!

Try a smaller pot with a mix of soil and perlite to help with drainage!

Plant roots need oxygen to survive. We give them oxygen by creating air pockets in the soil, using mixtures like perlite or lyca mixed into the standard potting soil. Without your pockets, your plant could drown. Based on the photos, it looks like there isn’t much of a mix so doing this should help the plant tremendously. ☺️

That is a way too big pot for such a small plant . It is better to keep them in small pots where their roots reach everywhere. This reduces the chances of root rot as the plant doesn’t sit in wet soil.
