Hi, I’m new to caring for a Monstera. I bought mine a little while ago, and I realize now that I didn’t do enough research to choose one with a more organized stem structure. The plant doesn’t look very happy, and the stems are growing in all different directions. I’d like to separate and arrange the stems so it looks healthier, but I’m not sure how to do that. I also watched some YouTube videos, but they made it seem like a really complicated process. Could you please give me some advice? Thank you.

Mine is exactly the same! I have no idea WHAT to do to contain him! I put in two moss poles….they ignored them and went the other direction. I put in plastic green things that look like antlers to support the stems at the bottom, but I see aerial roots growing out the sides of the stalks above my supports!🤦‍♀️ So I think I’ve just decided to let it go and let it grow and not try to contain it!

When I bought my deliciosa it ended up being 4 plants in 1 pot. I separated them and gave 2 away and kept 2 for myself. They looked a little sad at first all alone in their pots but they’re happy and growing now.

Came to say the same thing. Alot of times there are multiple plants in a pot when you buy younger monstera and you can separate them and only support the main stem. Supporting the petioles doesn't really help.

Do you have any recommendations for pot size?

You want to make sure it’s not too much bigger than your rootball! It’s honestly kinda hard to tell until you get to roots!
