Hi Everyone! I’m looking to buy a monstera plant that has the ability to grow at least 6-8ft. I don’t mind it starting off small, just need some guidance and where to buy/ what to buy. Thanks!!

    All monstera can get that large, but some will be quicker than others. monstera adansonii / monkey mask is a vine, and grows much quicker than deliciosa, but adansonii doesn't have the classic monstera silhouette. any deliciosa over 3 feet is at least 5 years old, so it's a long-term goal, unless you want to buy a mature one for a bajillion dollars. basic monstera care tips for whatever you decide: -very chunky, well draining soil. you're looking for 40% soil and 60% amendments. you can purchase aroid soil at your local garden center. -monstera prefer wide, shallow pots. if the pot is deep, they prefer to be a little root bound. - monstera grow larger and faster with support. they naturally climb trees, which means they're going to constantly be searching for something to climb. most would tell you to get a moss pole, but all my moss poles have ever done for me is mold 🙄 so i recommend plastic stakes or even a 2x4 plank. building on the growing on trees thing, they prefer to directly face their light source. you don't really want their light source to be on top of them, as they have to stretch to reach it that way. an east or west facing window is perfect. lowes sells itty bitty baby monsteras for like 30$, but i once went to walmart and got a pretty strong thai con for the same price 🙈 so the source is really up to you

      i ended up not buying it because it just didn't seem worth it to me, but here's my thai con going strong after 8mo!

    Monstera albo variegated are pretty common now, fast growing & have beautiful color/design!

      If you want to get a cool $$$ one I’d recommend a “Monstera Medusa” or a “Monstera Hurricane” 😁

    i am always going to my local lowe’s, kroger, and walmart for the monsteras!! they always have some around there, whether you like the smaller baby plants or the bigger ones, i would say the big monsteras at lowe’s will run about 30$ but walmart has them for as low as $20!

      Thank you for this advice!! I was thinking about somewhere like Lowe’s or Walmart. And I think I’ll go to the local nursery and check it out too!!

    Hi, most monstera grow at a rate of 1-2 leaves a month- just a heads up if you’re looking for something that size, you may want to start with an older plant (look for thick stems) :)
