I’ve just had a check on my monstera thai and the soil was absolutely soaking but i’ve been following the instructions of the app and i’m worried it’s killing my little baby. I have mixed some old dry soil with the wet soil i managed to get off, no sign of root rot yet but i’ve had 3 baby leaves bloom and die off and wonder if this is the reason. My prayer plant also seems quite wet but not as wet as my monstera. Anyone else had issues like this?

I recently bought a water meter off amazon. They are about $10-$15. It has made caring for my plants SO much easier. I find the finger in the soil method isn’t so accurate, and neither is the planta schedule. I now use it as a reminder to check them with the meter.

This!!!!!!! Easier. Less messy. AND wayyyy more accurate. This way you can snooze watering alerts.

I bought one too...planta seems to tell me to water too often. I use planta as a guideline but do often hit snooze

Always check your plants with your finger or with a soil moisture meter first. DO NOT go by the schedule this app offers all the time. This app has told me to water many of plants before that did not need it

you should air rate your soil with a chop stick to help it dry out some.

I also do not follow the water schedule from this app. You can either get a meter or check with your finger/a wooden skewer to see if the soil is wet. You can also point an oscillating fan a few feet away towards the soil to help dry it out. Make sure you have a chunky soil mix which allows airflow and doesn’t let moisture build up. I would also recommend repotting to a terracotta pot since it helps suck out any excess moisture.

You should never blindly water when the app reminds you to. It's reminding you to start checking your plants for signs of needing water and snoozing if they don't. If you click on the watering task and scroll down you'll see 'more instructions' click this and it tells you what to look for in each plant to know when to water. Like soil needs to be completely dry, or water when 1 in topsoil is dry, etc. Also make sure your going into the setting of each plant and making sure you have all its parameters correct like pot size, pot type, soil type, plant size, etc. All these play factor into when the app makes a watering schedulefor your plant.

I don’t follow the apps watering schedule! It wants me to water way more often than they need

Looks like your pot might not have drainage? Water was draining well through mine but was sitting in outside pot and my plant started looking droopy. After draining secondary pot plant revived.
