Just got this Thai Constellation Monstera from meijer.. every plant I’ve got from them, the soil is like wet spongy kinetic sand. I haven’t repotted it yet into my chunky soil mix (coco coir chips, perlite, orchid bark + tropic. Potting soil), but This new leaf was coming out when I got it & now it looks like this :// It’s in a self watering pot and the soil has been wet. I’ve had it for about 3ish weeks now & I usually repot at 2 weeks. Should I repot, is this from overwatering?

That new leaf looks so sad 😞 gummy almost. Definitely too much water. Repot asap. I’m sure that leaf will fall/shrivel off on its own

My question now though is, should I just remove the leaf? Also when/where should I add in a moss pole.? I’ve cared for monsteras before, but this is the first time I’ve ever owned one! :)

But it is so sad & gummy is the perfect way to describe it lol!, I was very confused I wasn’t sure if it would perk up or they were supposed to come out like that? But planning to repot this afternoon, wanted to work in a moss pole unless it’s still early for one?

I would let the plant naturally dry that leaf out. Cutting it may put it into shock. Hold off on the moss pole until it starts leaning and needing the support. Right now, just focus on rehab. It’ll look great. Sending you lots of positive vibes and luck!!

I would remove it from the self watering pot. In my opinion using a water meter to decide when to water is best. I ordered a Thai monstera that is supposed to arrive today and I can’t wait! Yours is beautiful. Maybe the new leaf was too stressed from shipping?

Thank you so much!!! She wasn’t shipped, I actually picked her up from meijer of all places! Like I said tho all of my plants I’ve gotten from there, the soil is just sopping wet and feels like a sponge. I typically wait 2 weeks before repotting at home, but with my first pink princess, the leaves had already started to brown from overwatering like 3 days after I had her and I hadn’t even watered it myself. The soil stayed wet for like a week! :/ honestly no clue how they keep them alive in the store like that for so long.! My question now though is, should I just remove the leaf? Also when/where should I add in a moss pole.? I’ve cared for monsteras before, but this is the first time I’ve ever owned one! :)

I think I'd repot into some good draining soil. Check the roots and if you see any signs of rot follow the root rot protocol.

Idk, personally I think I would trim the brown. There is still some good green on it. As for the pole, my Thai is about the same size. She just has a couple of small stakes for now. A training bra, not full on support 😂. I think so much of it is a "do it and see what happens" plan of attack!

Just be sure not to restrict the petioles if you do stake. They like to be freeeee.

Add the pole next to the thickest part of the stem. And yes you can go ahead and remove that leaf.
