Help: Monstera Prop Fails! How do I START in soil? I am having the worst luck, trying to propagate Monstera cuttings. They were growing great roots in a dark stained glass vase in a rather dark room for about three months and were thriving. I took them out of the vase and brought them to my home I noticed some root rot, so cleaned up the roots a bit. I have very bright east facing light from floor to ceiling windows— complete opposite of where it was living and where the mother plant lives. That I believe was the first shock. They do NOT like bright indirect/East facing light! I put one cutting in soil and the roots struggled and died but the leaves remained healthy. The others I put in a clear glass vase with tap water and fertilizer and within two days, there is more rot, They were getting soft and coming off in my hand as I tried to rinse them. Wondering if the vases were too humid. So, I just whacked off all of the roots on one of them and cleaned as much rot from the nodes as I could to start over. The other one had salvageable roots so I cleaned those up and scraped off the rot. The leaves on all of them are still beautiful and green. Now fretting about whether I should just stick them in soil and try to start soil roots so that I don’t have the same failed experiment of transitioning water roots. Any advice??? Sharing pics.

Try some Hydroguard in your water. It helps convert the fungus that causes root rot into nutrients to be absorbed by roots. I used it on my Monstera Albo when it had severe root rot and it helped.
