Strange Marks on Monstera? Can anyone help me work out why I’m getting these little brown cracks on my Monstera leaf? Also a small spot appearing on the new leaf emerging! I don’t think I’m overwatering. Could it be too much light or heat?

Mine has the same thing. I’m thinking it’s just mechanical damage. The leaves move around quite a bit, especially when they’re unfurling. They’re also very delicate when they’re new. So my guess is that the leaves ran into something. Even just a small scratch when they’re unfurling can turn into a large mark as the leaf expands I would inspect the underside of each leaf for pests just in case though.

Thanks yeah I wondered the same or maybe humidity so I’ve started misting the leads daily just in case. Thanks ❤️

Misting the leaves can potentially cause rot. I know planta recommends misting quite often, but there is no scientific proof that it raises humidity high enough and for long enough that it really benefits the plants. A humidifier or even clustering up higher humidity plants helps raise humidity more than misting will. Definitely check for pests before grouping them together though. The brown marks look mechanical, the black spot on the new leaf could be root health issues or pests
