    Monsteras have a front and back orientation since they are epiphytic, and offering them something to climb on generally gets you larger leaves with faster maturation and better support. Growth patterns without a pole are slower, more bushy, and typically have smaller leaves. Without a pole the plant may seem more droopy/unbalanced as once it becomes large enough it may have trouble holding up its own weight. They can grow either way, so it’s up to personal preference on what you want for your space.
