Woo hoo! This very damaged (thrips) stem is reshooting where I chopped it (left). I did this with a different plant and it just shriveled and died. So, do I try it with her brother (right)? Small and ugly and leaves also thrips damaged. One leaf is ok. This plant is 18 months old and this is it! Granted, it was just a small node with 2 leaves, but you can see it is still quite juvenile. Monstera hate me.

That is some heavy thrip damage.. Entirely up to you on what aesthetic you eventually want. If you're going to get rid of the damaged leaves once new ones pop then you're going to have a bare bottom plant. Wherever you cut will put out the new growth point. Personally, I would chop and reroot each node and start over with multiple baby plants ☺️ that way I can be sure there are most certainly no more thrips 😅
