Looking for basic care advice Plant has been in my care for roughly a month now steadily opening new leaves. It's still in nursery pot and is growing lots of little leaves at the base. Should I be trimming these? Adding a climbing pole? Repotting? Thank you!!!!

I’m new to this but I think you might have multiple plants in there! I’d wait for more experienced gardeners to chime in but I saw something similar in another post and that was the general consensus. This is happening to mine too and I’m planning on repotting and separately them so each one can really thrive!

You have several plants in there, which is fine if you like a fuller look. Only trim leaves that are quite dead/damaged, this is in general not a plant that you prune. It also need something to climb up it's backside, as monstera are plants that climb trees in the wild. A plank would work since it looks like you have a wide back end. If you're new, identifying the back can be tricky, but just look for the Arial roots. That's what signifies the back, which it looks like I see in photo 2.

Check out the YouTube channel Kill This Plant, which I originally found via reddit recommendations. He did a great job getting me up to speed on Monstera

Thank you! That's been something i've been trying to figure out - whether I should be regularly pruning. I absolutely want to keep it full, as long as all the plants can thrive. I didn't know about a "front" or "back" so I appreciate it so much. Getting a pole in there ASAP.

I have read that you don’t repot until it’s about 80% roots and looks like ramen noodles. Yours are gorgeous!

Yes strap that bad boy to a pole or trellis while it's little, I find I know when I need to repot when I have to water it often because it's drying out quick you definitely don't want it to be too root bound I just repotted all of mine

Thank you!! I made the mistake of repotting my last monstera in a huge pot and had a rapid decline. Will definitely be sure to keep a better eye on this one to see it's water intake
