Hi there, I'm a new plant mum to a Monstera called Betty. I have uploaded some photos and as you will see I have some dark spots on some leaves and then a little white spot on another. I have purchased a moss pole for support and some clips so I will attend to that soon enough. However I'm just wondering what the dark bits are and if I'm killing it? I've only had her for a week watered once but not too much and soil does feel dryish, I'm just worried about over watering too 😩😩 ah who knew plants could cause so much panic 🙈🙈 also I know the actual pot itself is too small, her nursery pot had a ridge and didn't fit! I'm getting her a terracotta 😊

We’re the dark spots on her when you got her? It could be bruising from the nursery or stress (which is normal) from being moved to a new place. You can cut off that leaf (use scissors cleaned in running alcohol) so she doesn’t put energy towards it. Is the white spot crawling? From the picture it looks like a little chunk of the leaf got removed. If it’s crawling, then look up pest control, and get some neem oil. If not crawling, then look up spot might turn brown, it might not. I’ve had both happen. When this app says to water, get a chopstick or knitting needle and stick it about a quarter way in the soil (I think it is quarter in the warm months and half in the cold. I just woke up, but check out Tanner the Planter on YouTube) and if moist soils is stuck to it, then snooze the watering for how long you feel comfortable. Give her another week or so before you repot her. Being moved from a nursery to home is a lot of stress and then repotting is more stress. Don’t want to stress her out too much at once.

Thank you so much for your reply that is so helpful! Yes the brown spots were on her before I got her. I don't think I'm nk the spot is crawling but I shall keep an eye on it, I just noticed it this morning. Could I also ask, should I keep her in the nursery pot anyway for as long as I can or do you recommend reporting into a home? I know you said moving from a nursery to a home is stressful, I only planned on keeping her in a nursery and just into a bigger pot? X

Usually best to give about 2-3 weeks to get used to the new home. After that can repot into anything with adequate drainage. I have mine in a nursery style pot just because mine is big and I don’t want to lift a heavy ceramic pot plus her. I have the nursery pot sitting in a nice pot.
