NikillerThe smaller they are, the easier they split up. Mine was 4 in a 10” planter and the largest was about 3-4 feet tall, took me a lot of work and I broke off about 1/3rd of the total root ball. The only signs of any stress at all is the smallest one is starting to yellow its old leaf ( which is completely natural as the plant prepares for new growth ). I recommend you soak the root ball first 30-60 minutes first, this makes the roots softer and less brittle and loosens the soil. Don’t be afraid to grab a monstera by the base of the stem and just pull it away from the others, you can break off a lot of roots and it be totally fine with it.

Unless you can spend extra time on them, more and more time as they get larger, they’ll eventually become unmanageable as a set or one will start to outcompete the others and you’ll end up with some shrimpy little ones hiding under one happy one. You don’t NEED to separate them as long as you like the way they look together and plan on providing a ton of light and water in a year or two. I’m lazy and don’t want unmanageable plants so I make things as easy as possible

I have started planning for her permanent spot in house. But I am not sure I want 3-4 plants in one pot. I am thinking separate her into 2 pot with 2 plants each !!!
