I think I need to chop and prop my monstera where it’s started to veer right, away from its moss pole. I’ve never done this though and I’m SO SO nervous about it. I’m thinking about getting 3 pieces propagating from cuts where I marked on this picture. Each piece would have at least one node/aerial root. Any advice? On chopping and/or propping? Thanks!!

It looks great , just be sure to let callous or seal the ends if you’re water propagating

Thank you! How long would you let callous or do you use something to seal the cut that you recommend?

i wouldn’t cut it personally, i would replace the moss pole with either a wooden board or trellis to better support the plant.

exactly! deliciosas aerial roots are too long and thick for moss poles anyway

I’m with Plant Father, the plant is lovely and just needs better support. You can gently persuade it to grow straighter with the correct support. If you chop your plant up you are risking losing it as anything can happen if rot gets in. If it was suffering, you have nothing to lose but it is lovely. They don’t grow straight in the wild😉

Thanks for all the feedback! My monstera is heavily rooted in its moss pole and I don’t want to cut them to change supports. Thoughts on adding another moss pole or 2, like to make a moss wall for it??

Is it a moss pole you can add sections to? If it is great, or looking at it you could put another on top but slide a bamboo cane into the bottom one halfway and add the top one then cable tie them together where they join. It should be stable enough.

It’s a homemade moss pole so I definitely had plans to add. Just worried if I try to steer it back to the moss pole it has it will strain or break it

You can cut the aerial roots as long as the knife is sterile.
