My first monstera!! 💚 I got her at Walmart for $10 and this is my first new leaf since brining her home! Buuuuutttttt.. Do I have a fenestration coming in?!?! 👀 I know I need to get her some support & maybe even her own grow light cause she’s leaning heavily! Any advice appreciated! 😌🥰

It doesn't look like she needs a pole or trellis yet. My preference is a trellis. Just turn her a 1/4 of a turn every time you water so it doesn't go to one side.

Great advice on the turning when watering!

Someone else may have a different opinion, but you don’t necessarily need support for the Thai constellation. The Thai’s have less space between their nodes so the vine doesn’t grow in length as fast and mandate support like the other monsteras like the albo and unvariegated monstera, making it more of a “crawler” than a “climber.”

Thank you! I am loving this feedback! I did not know they had less space, as I have never had the pleasure of owning a monstera before.

Yep!! When you see people say large form vs. small this is kind of what they mean. Small form have more space between their nodes making them leggier and needing support so they can “climb,” while large forms have smaller spacing between nodes and make them more of a “crawler.” You can still give support to large forms but they don’t absolutely have to have it like the small forms. I don’t know if Thai constellations are exclusively large form, but I feel like most of the posts I see look like large form.

*Probably way more info than you want*, but the first pic shows my Thai con with small intermodal spacing and being supported by its aerial roots (no added support yet); the second pic is a philodendron, but it shows really well what larger space between nodes looks like and the need for climbing support.

I prefer to put mine on a moss pole, as it can help with promoting bigger leaves. It's not really needed for support as much I don't think
