I have new monstera. I like the way it looks, but I also want it to have big, beautiful fenestrations. It has 4 main stems and I’m thinking of adding a pole after the 3 new leaves unfurl and harden to prevent damage. When and how would you go about making this climb while keeping it looking full? Hand in photo for size reference.

Put the moss pole behind the biggest base stem (looks like the one behind in the photo. Then get some garden tape and gentle put it around all stem and tape with the poss pole behind. It won’t be as pretty yet. But I will get bigger leaves. Again loose enough that it doesn’t squeeze it but need to hole it up. You can take it mid way, not at the base

But I do prefer a bamboo stick big enough. Pest can’t live in the stick and you won’t have to water the pole.

once the new leaves harden off, i would recommend repotting, separating the stems, and rearranging them as it appears your monstera are facing various directions and this will make for a tidier looking plant. monstera have a face (where the leaves point) and a backside (where the aerial roots point). this is completely optional but if you leave the stems as is they will likely grow twisted as they climb. instead of a pole or stake, i would recommend using a trellis or board as this will provide more adequate support for such sturdy plants as monstera deliciosa, especially considering you will have multiple stems climbing.

Would you recommend keeping all 4 stems facing the same direction or separate plants into different pots? 🤔 I’m trying to imagine how I want this to look as it grows.

that is totally up to you, many people have full plants (6+ stems) and many also have single stem monstera. i personally wouldn’t put more than two plants in one pot since they grow so fast.
