Hi! Some of my plant babies are needing a nice repotting, but I’m not quite sure what soil mix to pot them in. The plants in question are: spider plant, string of bananas, monstera adansonii, and pink ficus. A lot of these plants’ soils have become hydrophobic and sponge-like, and I want my babies to thrive. These plants all seem to like looser, well draining soil, but I want to create my own mix to best fit each of their needs instead of buying a typical “well draining soil” and putting them all in it. Does anyone have any diy mix ratios that they find work best for these plants? I have perlite, sphagnum moss, peat moss, and some pebbles currently, and am able to get more materials pretty easily.

      I’ve been wanting to splurge on some reallyyyy good stuff like coir moss or mulch, leca, and coco chips, so maybe this is my time to try it out!! Thank you!!

    I like to mix potting soil with perlite and coconut coir, sometimes I’ll add orchid bark too if I want it chunkier. I use the same mix for all of my plants and it seems to be working just fine! I’m currently using potting soil that is made for tropical plants so it also includes lava rock.
