Yes. Could also keep it in water indefinitely.

i would recommend transitioning to semi-hydro before soil as monstera are prone to rot and a water-established root system is likely to have a hard time transitioning to soil. once your plant is established in leca, pon, or coarse perlite, and used to some level of drought, the transition to soil should be much easier on the root system

i can’t propagate anything in pure sphagnum, likely because of local humidity, and my tendency to forget about props. but my perlite/sphagnum blend works great for transitioning to soil. i just make sure there’s lots of fine perlite in the soil (at least 40% depending on the plant), which could work for the sphagnum too, to help your plant transition into soil. chopped sphagnum fibers do create air pockets in the soil while holding onto moisture, like bark and perlite, which monstera love !
