Is this the right way to keep the moss pole moist? I soaked it yesterday when I first installed it and it dried up within 24 hours. This is my first time with actually using a moss pole. The water in the bottle seems to empty itself within 10 minutes of filling it regardless of if I shove it firmly into the moss or not
you would do it like this if you were watering the moss pole on a schedule rather than keeping it lightly moist 24/7. if the goal is constant moisture, put the cap back on the water bottle and poke a few holes in the cap with a needle. it'll forcefully slow down the drip and let the moss stay wet for longer
1 like I don’t have the cap for this bottle but I have the cap for another once I drink it. I’ll poke holes in that one and do that. Do I need a lot of holes or just 1-2 small ones? I just wanna fill the bottle and forget it for a while
1 like usually 2-4 is the sweet spot i think. it'll drip for a few hours and the moss pole will still be wet by the next day so you only have to refill every 2 days-ish
1 like Oh boy, maybe I’ll invest in a 4 foot long water bottle and make it last a week or two 😂
1 like i know they make self-watering poles out there somewhere, i just never bothered to find myself one because when i was using poles they were still super expensive. maybe the price is more reasonable now, and there's surely a way to DIY it, but i just can't be bothered anymore LOL
