I didn’t want to do a moss pole - scared of mold- for my Monstera adansonii. So instead, I watched a video and made cuttings ! I know to change water once a week, but can I leave them on the counter not near the sunny window? Or do I need to put them near the same window the mama plant is in? Help this is my first time propagating and I’m nervous! 😬

Not sure where the parent plant is but “Bright indirect” light will be best. This can mean a lot of things 🙄 Water props do well if they’re close to sunlight, but not directly in it. I always do mine in my north window, they get a few hrs of direct AM sunlight (gentler) and then bright light for the rest of the day with a short period of direct light just before sunset. Direct south and west light will be pretty aggressive, depending on where you’re located. So you can put them near those but not in the direct line of fire ☀️

Near mama is just fine! Also… I read on someone else’s post on here that having a pothos cutting in with them helps root growth. I can’t remember why though. But it’s been helping my props so if you have a pothos in the house, throw a cutting into each glass with them!

They are supposed to have a “rooting hormone”. Unsure if that’s true but some people just like to have all the help they can get. I have no problems without a pothos cutting in all my props though.

I always keep my props in a little shade, some sun but not so much as the mother plant. There are some I’ve had that grow algae in real sunlight (and some that just don’t for some reason). And they’ve never grown it under artificial light.
