Hello hello!!! Iām new to the plant life and I have this very full monstera from Menards. It does have lots of suckers. I guess I donāt really know what to do with it. Thereās just sooo much information out there my little brain is going to explode. Should I repot and separate them? Should I get something for it to climb? Should I cut the suckers? Should I just leave it alone?!? š« š¤Æ (the blue and green straws are to keep roots from puncturing the neighboring stems)
Itās completely up to you! Thatās the fun part about plants. As far as the āsuckersā go, itās completely an aesthetic preference. Those little leaves are photosynthesizing and contributing to the plant. But if you donāt like the look of them, trim them off! The plant doesnāt care. For separating the individual plants, also a personal preference. Do you want a more full-looking plant with lots of leaves? Leave them together. Do you want bigger leaves over time? Separate them (because they wonāt be competing with each other for nutrients, so this typically results in bigger leaves) Moss pole - this is also up to you! I recommend watching the YouTube channel Sydney Plant Guy if you want to learn more about sphagnum moss poles. Sphagnum moss poles are a bit of work, but this will get the ābestā out of your plant. You could also give it a stake or something else to climb that doesnāt require any maintenance the way a moss pole does. But you donāt have to give it anything to climb at all if you donāt want to! Monsteras are fine with ācrawlingā, it just means that itāll require a larger pot. If you give it a sphagnum moss pole, you donāt need as large of a pot because itāll grow roots into the pole.
