I just bought my first Thai Constellation, and she is officially my most expensive plant baby yet at $120. Naturally, I am now emotionally attached and slightly terrified. 😂 I absolutely love her, but she had about an hour drive home on a sunny Oregon day. When I got home, I noticed some of her leaves curling inward. I assumed it was just stress/shock from the drive and the new environment, so I planned to let her fully dry out before giving her a good watering. Over the next few days, though, she started to droop a little. Yesterday I checked the soil with a moisture meter and was getting mixed readings in different spots, so I went ahead and gave her a thorough watering. I really don’t want to accidentally hurt her, so I’d love any Thai Constellation tips. A few questions: Should I wait to repot until she acclimates to my home? Could low humidity be part of the curling/drooping issue? Would you recommend getting a humidifier? What helps encourage new leaf growth without stressing her out? Any and all advice is welcome. I want this dramatic little queen to thrive.

    that curling is 100% just a little shock from moving from the nursery to your home. she'll bounce back in a few days. a big warning, thai constellation are especially prone to root rot. the soil it was sold to you in is far too dense. shock is easier to treat than root rot, i say repot with an aroid mix asap. after that, check leaves for any pests or mold, and i like to always give them a quick wipe down with diluted neem oil. then leave her alone for a week or two so she can settle in. the biggest causes of slow growth are not enough light and no support. when you repot, give her something to climb. it doesn't have to be a moss pole! mine's on a cedar plank and she loves it. best of luck!!

      forgot to mention, wipe down is recommended because thrips and spider mites both loove your monsteras.

      Hey thanks a bunch! I always heard that you don’t repot for a while after buying? She came from a high end farm/plant store. I am scared that because she’s already looking stressed I should wait? It’s also been a few days and she’s looking better but still not all happy like she was in the store. So I am just scared. I’ve got the pole and can’t wait! Thank you so much for your support. It’s scary when you invest!

      while it can be okay to leave most plants in the soil from the store while they adjust, monstera are not so picky about their roots like other plants are and will be fine if you repot sooner than expected. it's ultimately up to you, but personally i would change the soil. it's just not possible to get enough light in a home for that kind of soil to be suitable for a monstera

      aroid soil mix. if you can't find one with that label, look for soil with lots of amenities in it. pumice, orchid bark, coco coir. monstera like 60% amenities to 40% actual soil. it doesn't need to be exact, just in that ballpark

    I’m slightly jealous I got mine 3 years ago and it was half the size of yours and $400, I was so stressed about it dying cause of that price lol but it has been such an easy plant! I agree with the comment about root rot and recommend a chunky soil mix and clear pots are great so you can check on the roots. Here is a pic of mine today she is now gigantic
