I have a young Thai constellation monstera that’s currently about 10” tall. It’s grown 2” since I got it a month ago, but I want to give it a moss pole to help it out more. Right now, it’s in a 3” pot. Would I want to move it to something like a 7” pot to give it room to grow with the pole, or would that much soil/moisture be too much for the small amount of roots currently there? I’m looking at getting a moss pole (the kind you fill with sphagnum moss) that’s 3.75” across the front and 23” tall. This is my first time experimenting with a moss pole, so I’m open to any and all suggestions!

That’s a really big jump, but it might be ok since the pole will take up a lot of space. You should wait until the little guy is super root bound in his 3” pot before making the move. There’s also not much point to giving it a pole before it starts pushing out aerial roots, because it won’t root into it until then. Based on the size of the plant, I’d say you have a while before that happens

That makes sense. Thanks for the info!

Rose’s advice is spot on the best you can do for this plant is give it good light exposure and time. I had a similar sized Thai con from tc and it took a year to get rolling, they prioritise root growth over leaf growth if there’s space so keep those roots tight.
