Please help! I ordered this monstera deliciosa off TikTok and got her 4/22. It came in very wet soil and the roots were existent but not very developed. She’s about 18” tall. I put her in a pot with a mix of soil that consists of orchid bark, perlite, and tropical plant mix soil because I know drainage is important. She had two good drinks about a week apart where I bottom watered. I think she got either too much sun or over watered. I moved her out of direct light and her soil is dry up until the bottom two inches. What can I do?

    Yeah if she was wet when you got her on 4/22 and you’ve water twice since then it’s definitely overwatered. Only water when she’s completely dry to the bottom. Check with a wooden skewer and pull it out after a minute. If it’s still wet, snooze a week and repeat the process.

    Also, you say the roots aren’t very developed so I’d evaluate if she’s in the correct pot size. You want to go only 1-2 inches larger than the root ball or it can lead to overwatering with the soil unable to dry out fast enough due to the soil/root ratio being off.

      Thank you. I’ll definitely move her to a smaller pot so I can monitor her root size and condition

    I’d trim the yellow leaves and don’t be afraid to put her in direct sun. They appreciate it. I also probably wouldn’t repot again right now. While I totally agree with the above, she’s had a hard couple weeks so I would just let her have a break for a few weeks or a month.
