Advice on how to even begin helping this giant and likely ancient Monstera at my work appreciated! I have no idea how old the soil is or who or how often it gets watered. As you can see, though, it needs some love!

Does it get a lot of direct sun in that window? I wonder if the leaves the are right up against the window are burning as the other leaves actually look really green and healthy!
0 gillningarYes, tons of light! Floor to ceiling windows in a breezeway. That was my thought too since only the leaves closest to the window are discolored.
1 gillaI'm not sure what it needs, but personally I'd get it a tall stand to show off those fantastic aerial roots. The soil looks like you could water it. You might want to ask around to see if anyone else has been caring for it
0 gillningarYeah I'm trying to investigate. Everyone hates the aerial roots. I'm wondering if they can just be cut off...? 🫣
0 gillningarYou can cut them without harming the plant. You could also soak them to improve flexibility and then direct them into the pot so they can act as regular roots (you might need a repot to get that done, but you could check the root health and adjust pot size if you need to). You can look up banyan style bonsai to see examples of how to make aerial roots look thier best
2 gillningarI would support the plant with a nice long moss pole and repot it with very airy soil mix. I’m involved in a few forums and most people cut the Arial roots off but some please still keep them, it’s your option. If I had it I would support it and repot it to start. Leaves look amazing!
1 gillaI would repot: the soil looks hydrophobic and it would help you reposition the stalks to grow upright against some kind of support. You could use the aerial roots as the means by which you secure the stalks to a supporting structure. It’d be cool if there’s a pole or something in your building (across from the window so the leaves face the light) that you could wrap the aerial roots and plant around!
