It was suggested I repot my monstera with Fox Farms mix and vermiculite which destroyed him. I’m now dealing with the remnants of what’s left after root rot. I trimmed the damaged roots, did a 1-3 part peroxide soak for 10 minutes, repotted with the first mix I used of peat moss and perlite. Then watered lightly to dampen the soil. He is now in front of a window. Any suggestions other than potting soil cause that was a bad idea.

Ouch. Take him out and cut the base off and re-root in water before repotting again. Hope he makes it.

Part of his stem that is black looks like there is rot in there too. I’d make sure it still is firm, otherwise, he will continue to rot over time. I agree with others in cut off the black on the stem. Stick him in water with rooting hormone and prop drops and wait for new root system to develop. Patience is key. Continue to top off water, don’t replace unless you see roots/ stem rotting. Then do the peroxide treatment again and put back into water. Patience and observation is key.

Yeah I would say let it re root in water, just be sure to clean off the existing soil on the roots! When the existing roots then have small roots coming off them, let them grow a bit and then acclimatise it back to a super chunky soil mix, think bark, perlite and Coco coir but never any thick stodgy soil, the roots need to breathe as well as absorb water!
