HELP!! My monstera has killed herself🥲. She was in semi-hydro leca and was fine for months. Recently she was a bit droopy so I thought she wasn’t getting enough sunlight. Today I checked on the leca and realised her roots have rotted (and part of the stem) There are some salvageable Aerial roots but anyone wanna suggest anything to help me keep her alive???

Hey sorry to hear that :(( if you cut if the rotted parts and spray hydrogen peroxide on the rotten areas this should help. Change leca and pit in clean water. Try changing out the water frequently :) hope this helps xx

Thanks so much! I’ve cut the rotted parts away and I will spray with hydrogen peroxide. Do you think I should let her callus over before putting in water???

Hmm yes I would say so as it will help seal the edge and hopefully avoid happening again xx

The kill your plant expert on YouTube also says he puts sulfur on the cut ends to prevent rot.

Maybe try distilled water in leca. I wonder if that would help prevent bacteria in the first place.
