Okay guys! New to the monsteras! What the best soil for a monstera! I hear chunky and I hear tropical soil idk which to do!

    both can be referring to the same thing! a tropical soil is often a chunky mix that retains moisture well. the moisture retentitiveness makes sure that you dont have to water extremly often, and the chunkyness can help let the roots breathe and access oxygen so that they dont rot. hope this helps!!

      Some of the tropical I have bought for mine just have lava rocks in them! So now I’m debating if I need to repot them in an even more chunky soil.

      I ended up making a 50-50 mix of orchid bark/mix & bagged tropical soil. This seems to work pretty well, and my monstera seems happy. I do find the tropical soil can hold moisture a long time; so going forward I will most likely do a 60-40 or 70-30 orchid mix to tropical soil blend.
