Help!!!! Monstara was doing well and developed root rot. Lost a few leaves and lost its root ball.. trying to propagate past 2-3 weeks and have seen no new root growth. Is she done for? Any suggestions ?

MadisonDefinitely not done for! This is the dormancy season, so it’s normal for propagations to take a while to develop new roots. I don’t know what kind of window it’s by, but you could try increasing the light by moving it to a brighter window (if you have one) or adding a grow light; that will be the biggest thing in promoting new growth. Prop drops might help as well if you feel like buying them, but light would be the most important thing.

Been on the struggle bus with my monstera (also root rot) finding success now with propping in Lecca. Your cutting has some great arial roots already, you likely won’t get new roots from the bottom part that is in water because it looks like all the nodes have already produced arial roots. if you popped it in a no drainage container with lecca completely covering the arial roots (new roots will branch off of them) and add some water to the bottom (about 1/3 of the way up the container) I think you’ll see some great results. I also like clear vessels like the one you have now because it makes it easier to monitor the roots!

Now trying Lecca to hopefully save my monstara and I think it is looking worse. I have added nutrients to the water. Thoughts? Ideas?
