my boyfriend bought me a new monstera today as my cat ruined mine ☹️ he was looking at the monkey monsteras and saw that one of the stems had been part snapped so he put it in the soil of my plant hoping it’ll root! I think it has a node on it as it’s quite thick then the individual stem with the leaf comes off it, will this eventually root in the soil?

maybe, but a picture of the base of the leaf will help. did the leaf snap off the main stem, or the top of the plant? if it broke off of the stem, then it will not root. but if the stem broke off, then it might be able to root. another way of saying this, is if the leaf has already grown another leaf, it will not root. hope this helps!

Possibly better to water prop until it has roots, thats if it is a viable plant. Like C.Cat says it all depends at what point it snapped, if no node it will die as just a leaf.

No node unfortunately so will eventually die. Sometimes they root but will not grow.
