Hello! I received this sierrana monstera as a gift about a year ago. I keep having issues with the brown and yellow ring leaves. It gets indirect light most of the day, with direct sun for a couple hours in the afternoon. You can see where I had to cut off a whole branch. I’m so scared of over-watering, am I underwatering? What’s the best way to water these? Thanks in advance!
They like to be drenched every 2-4 weeks depending on the humidity of your home. But you want to make sure it’s well drained! I would take it out of the decorative pot and water it in the tub if you can. Stop when you see water coming out of the drainage holes and let it drain for around an hour before putting it back. Then don’t water again until the soil is completely dry. The condition of the leaves could be because the soil isn’t draining/drying out between waterings and the roots are staying wet too long. That can cause root rot. You can check for root rot too and cut away any black or mushy roots and add fresh, well-draining soil. Whether you repot, the watering method I mentioned should help!
