Hey! Could someone help me out? Pic 1 - Just wondering what this growth is at the bottom of my monstera stem? Is it just roots coming through above the soil or is it something else? Pic 2 - a single root has managed to poke its way out of the bottom; it isn’t root bound yet and only recently been repotted about 2 weeks ago, is it rotting due to being exposed to air or is it okay? As it’s starting to look brown.. Any advice appreciated, it’s my most precious plant🥺

The root coming out of the stem is an aerial root, which they use to attach to trees :) You can direct it into the soil when it gets longer if you want Yes it’s fine for roots to be coming out of the bottom :) Monstera roots love oxygen and can even just absorb humidity from the air!

No problem! Here’s a pic of one in the wild. Those roots go crazy!

That’s insane!! I’d love to see one like that in person, it’s crazy how plants adapt🤩

Yes! 🌱 That’s why they love chunky soil, since those roots are usually exposed to so much oxygen
