Hi everyone! I hope you can open the photo and see the whole picture. I got this cutting from a friend. This friend has a few plants, so not a full blown plant addict. She said she looked up videos on YouTube on how to cut a monstera. Out of the 85 house plants I have, I do not have a monstera! I was really excited to trade to get this poster child of the plant world. But there’s no nodes… I’m not sure this plant will root. Any advice? Next steps? Thanks!

Sorry to say, but I don’t see a node on these at all, so I don’t think it’s possible for it to root. It’s essentially just like a cut flower and will die eventually :( the cutting needs to include either an aerial root or a node which looks like a bump on the stem

That’s sadly what I thought too. Thanks for replying! I’ll let her know if they die. She might be willing to give me another. I wanna know what YouTube video she watched! It ought to be taken down!!

Your friend is badly mistaken! There are no root nodes on these leaves.

For the mean time use it as a decor in a vase if available, use to its fullest potential 🥺

They are in a vase now. Do monstera leave do well when pressed in a book? I tried to press an alocasia leaf once and it didn’t turn out super well.
