Good evening, Apologies in advance for the long post. This is my first ever post and I am also a first-time Monstera owner. I was kindly gifted this plant by a friend (he has been affectionately named Harry House Plant). I have already repotted Harry and given him some support (please see pictures), and as you can see, he has grown a lot since he first arrived in my home. As a first-time Monstera owner and new houseplant owner (most of my plants are Lego), I was wondering: a) if he is healthy and whether I should be doing anything differently, b) how I can make him stand straight instead of being all over the place, and c) Harry currently lives on the windowsill of my very small bathroom, and my boyfriend is becoming more and more agitated as Harry continues to grow everywhere — where would be a suitable replacement home for Harry? Also could someone please tell me what I am supposed to do with the root like dangling things hanging off some of the branches? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    A) Certainly looks healthy! Don’t be shocked if some of his leaves turn yellow. He will drop old leaves as he gets accustomed to his new soil & environment. B) To encourage straight growth, attach the spine of the plant, or the main stem, to the moss pole. The petioles that are branching out everywhere can be loosely tied together to help tidy the situation a bit, or you can cut off some of the really annoying leaves. That’s really it I think. Monsteras take up space! C) If you don’t have another window with medium light, I recommend putting him in a corner on a table/stool, and under/beside a grow light. You can get lights that stand on the floor or attach to the wall, like a sconce. We know he wants to take up space, so putting him in a corner lets him be a centerpiece! The aerial roots that dangle off of the branches can be cut, or tucked into the soil if they can reach it! Good luck!

    A) harry looks wonderful! promising fenestrations and he's nice and green! B) from what it seems, i'd recommend a stake or pole of some kind. unfortunately, with how large he already is, your results will be very limited. i discourage using a moss pole because they require consistent moisture and often mold, and coco coir will rot where it comes into contact with the soil. too much maintenance for me. a plastic stake or even a wooden 2x4 will work just fine. in order to get him truly straight up, you may have to chop him up 😢 C) i think that second picture is a perfect spot for henry
