Help 🄲 My monstera just can’t seem to get happy. There’s yellow and brown/dried spots. I recently moved it to the bathroom that has natural indirect light and more moisture due to the shower. That’s when it began to yellow. I typically water once a week. Even in the photo you can see a new leaf is coming in and it’s already brown before unraveling. Any thoughts? Or suggestions!?!

šŸ‘‹ Plant Newbie here! My first thought is it could be overwatered. I heard if you have an wooden unfinished chop stick (like the single use kind) then you can poke down into soil and see if it is wet between watering. Similar to checking a cake in the oven. My monstera loves a lot of light. It is positioned in room with 7 windows and 2 sky lights. Hope yours bounces back!

Thank you for the suggestion! I never thought to check it like that. I’ll start doing so before I water next.

And I’ll add lighting! I have a plant light so maybe doing that would help as well. We don’t have the best of windows for direct in our home 🄲

Newbie - ish here, and agree with possible over watering and needing bright light. Now that days are shorter and temps are coller where I am I'm watering way less often.

What are the pot conditions? Adequate drainage? Almost certainly over watered at once a week. Would ensure plenty of air and drainage, and allow soil to fully dry before watering again.

Yes! I repotted it earlier this year with better soil for drainage and helped clear old the old soil and open the roots a bit. Seemed to help at first. Thank you for the suggestion!

Check the soil asap! My monstera did this to me and I found root rot and couldn’t save her 😢
