I have this leggy Mini that I am thinking about chopping. There are aerial roots up top that I could pot. What can I do about the legginess at the bottom? Advice?

    I have one that grew 4 feet in 5 months. I cut off 3 feet from the top, chopped it up and propagated the pieces in water. All survived! I was going to to pot them back into the pot to make a fuller pot, but ended up just making a whole new pot with all of them. So I would suggest chopping off length in increments over the seasons to get lower towards the bottom of the pot, because where you chop it, it will put out two new shoots. You can also try keiki paste! That stuff is magic!

    You can wrap some soil or moss around some aerial roots with plastic wrap to allow the upper parts to develop their own roots before you chop. If you take the leggy part, you can chop that into each individual node and propagate each one, or at least cut it into segments that make sense for you.
