I’ve had this monstera for a few years and it’s always done great. Recently I’ve noticed some weird curling in the lower leaves. What would cause this?

    in general lower leaves (oldest) tend to end up curling, to actually help the plant you might wanna trim off the older leaves, since theyre stealing energy from the newer leaves ☺️

      you can tell how old they are by the fact that they have no fenestrations

      all leaves offer benefits for the plant even if they’re imperfect. it doesn’t make sense to say they’re “stealing” energy from the newer leaves since every leaf, no matter its age, is photosynthesizing and transpiring and otherwise benefitting the whole plant. pruning is more about aesthetic than helping the plant grow. when you remove a leaf you’re effectively putting the plant on a diet, which is not a good idea during winter since the light is so sparse— your plants need all the energy they can get.

    I’d check the roots. They are promoting root rot.

    She’s beautiful! 😍😍 Just wondering how do you get your monstera to look so full, mine grows out and is taking up to much room now 😂

      A lot of propagating!!! As it grows to tall or too far out, I cut below a node, propagate in water, and replant with the main plant (if I can find a good spot) once roots are 2 or more inches!

    curling is usually due to underwatering, or severely dry air. does the soil stay totally dry for days before you water? or maybe it’s rootbound?

      I will be mindful of this going forward!! The room it is in has a space heater so it could be drying out faster than I’ve realized

      a space heater will definitely dry the air enough to cause stress in tropical plants like monstera. you could relocate it or run a humidifier along with the heater to manage the dryness
