Iā€™ve had my monstera for going on 5 yrs now and while I havenā€™t fully managed to kill it, thank goodness, itā€™s not growing. Itā€™s always had droopy leaves and hasnā€™t changed in size. Can anyone recommend how to get her to grow? I recently pulled her out of a large pot, cleaned off her roots from all soil, trimmed off dead roots and repotted 1/2 of her into a smaller pot and the other 1/2 in a clear vase with nothing but water. I guess Iā€™m trying to see which method, soil or water will help her.

    I also moved her indoors to my dining room where sheā€™s currently in front of a sliding door. I do have an umbrella outside so sheā€™s not getting direct sun but itā€™s a bright sunny window.

      I watered it today. And moved it inside. Hoping the humidity will increase

    How did the roots look when you repotted? Were there any mushy or dark brown roots to indicate root rot? I could be wrong but the pot in the picture looks like it may be much too large for that plant. You normally only want a pot an inch or two wider than the root ball itself, so that the soil doesnā€™t stay wet for too long between waterings. These like to stay slightly damp but not wet, I usually water mine when the top 2ā€ of soil is dry - can be checked with your finger or a chopstick. The drooping could be caused by under watering, over watering, heat, or pests. How are your watering habits normally? Does the plant live outside, and what kind of light does it get?

      There wasnā€™t too much brown roots and a lot of udon looking roots. I cut the darker roots off. The picture is before I repotted it into a smaller pot. Giving it a few weeks but hopefully Iā€™ll see a difference in a few days.

      I did have it outside under an umbrella but moved her inside yesterday. Iā€™ve been watering every two days.

      Keep an eye on it since itā€™s moved indoors. Iā€™m not sure what your temps have been like but extreme heat could cause drooping. Watering issues as well. Youā€™ll likely need to adjust the watering schedule since itā€™s indoors now. Just be sure to wait until itā€™s dried out a bit at the top 1ā€-2ā€ of soil, then soak it and repeat the next time around. Good luck!

    It probably needs more light. I feel like monstera do so much better when they get some direct sun. Iā€™m not talking all day July sunshine- but even just a couple of hours will make them happier. I currently have one that gets about 3 hours of direct sun from an east window and it is doing well. I had another that got direct sun all winter (well as many sunny days as we could get in gloomy winter) until I had to move it to the north window because it was too big. Then it started looking a little sad. I have 2 grow lights on it now and it looks much much better but not as vibrant as when it got the direct sun.
