I saw her on clearance at smiths for $7 and I couldn’t help myself and had to bring her home… She definitely looks super sad, any tips to help bring her back to life? I let her hangout for a day or two before I watered her for the first time and she definitely perked up once i did. I am definitely newer to plants and have never owned a monstera before 😭 send help

ooo that’s a steal! aside from those damaged leaves she looks very happy and has perky stems!! 1- id check her roots for rot and get her into some super chunky soil.. my go-to is potting soil, and an orchid bark mix that has perlite. some people also add peat moss or coco coir. regardless, chunky breathable soil is ideal. 2- i would keep her away from other plants for a few weeks to check for pests & just see how she reacts to a change in location. 3- monsteras need bright but indirect light.. also, the leaves need to face the light so you should face the leaves toward the window.. otherwise the leaves will turn around toward the sun and you’ll have a wild child 😂 they’re super resilient & i’m sure she’ll be thriving in no time :)

thank you :,) <3 when would be a good time to change her soil? i don’t want to stress her out or is that even a thing lol

i don’t know what the “proper” time to repot is but if the soil looks too dense, i’d say f it & just repot ! check for rotted roots and clip them off with scissors that have been wiped down with alcohol. stress is for sure a thing with plants and she may look unhappy for a few weeks, but i think it’s better in the long run to have her in breathable soil :)
