Help! I got my Thai Con in around March, and she has been growing super fast since (5th leaf in progress!) But I’m always curious why some of the new leafs are not as full and round as others’ Thai Con (see pics below). Like for my friend her Thai Con’s split leaf looks like what you’d expect a monstera to look like. Am I doing anything wrong? Does she need more fertilizer or anything else?

How much humidity is this plant getting? The leaves may be getting stuck before they completely unfurl. Do you fertilize your plant? That should help promote faster and bigger leaf growth. Also are you using a grow light?

I’m using a grow light and fertilizer. I try not to water them as much coz i thought you are not supposed to water monstera all the time

Yes. Make sure you water when 1 to 2 inches of soil is dry when you test with your finger. They like to have moist soil but not soaking wet. Don’t allow it to go bone dry between watering. I have my Monstera Peru in a self watering pot, and with a pebble tray. I still check it with a soil moisture meter before I refill the reservoir. I keep it in the moist ranges on the meter

Alrighty thank you! I’ll try to see if it’s an issue with humidity.

Make sure it is getting good light also monstera plants are climbers so if you want bigger leavesvi would suggest giving it a moss pole or trealis to climb.

More light! She hungers for more light lol but on a serious note the leaves of a Thai tell a story…. Small leaves with no fenestrations = not enough light. Try putting her close to a bright window and Increase the humidity.

Thank you! She’s already been under a grow light for about two month so I’ll try to do the humidity trick!

If you don’t have a humidifier you can top dress it with wet sphagnum moss. Soak the moss and wring it out till it’s lightly damp. Put it around the monstera loosely and try to keep it from touching the stem (can cause root rot and it’s better to be safe than sorry) as it evaporates it creates its own little humidity bubble 🫶🏽
