After taking care of my friendās monstera for a few months I was so amazed by how fast they grow that I got my very own from a hardware store in September! Iām honestly really proud of how far heās come !! Since getting him Iāve seen the first leaf with fenestrations grow in and two more after that. I got him a plant stand and a post on which to climb, and I regularly rearrange leaves and retie them around the post to make sure itās not growing too far out. I did have a general question about caring for the plant as it gets older. Namely, when Iāve seen other monsteras they typically have a lot less leaves and theyāre all pretty big. Mine has a lot of small old leaves and I was wondering if I should leave them alone or cut them off as my plant grows. Is this normal for a monstera? Do older monsteras look ācleanerā because those leaves have fallen off or because people prune them? And if I do need to prune them to make room for newer leaves, how do I do that?
