Hello everyone, My monstera plant came from a big box store and is doing great except for when the cooler weather hit. I live in Las Vegas Nevada so it doesn’t get that cold (most of the time). But between me moving to a new house, the sun dropping in the sky, the cooler air, and trying to find places to put plants inside as the sun moves and room permits my monstera plant is drooping and curling a bit. The roots started growing through the drainage holes before I moved but it was still growing so I didn’t want to repot it during that time. I think this is the best time to repot but I want to make sure. And should I separate the plants since they are not all facing the same direction so that I can put a stake in for them to help them grow better? Thank you for any help you can give. This is the first plant that has grown a good size, except for my aloe, which is really difficult to kill. Thank you, Catrina

Hello, you have beautiful monstera! I would advise against repotting just in case it might but the plant in more shock. Since you’ve recently moved, the weather changing as well as the amount of light the plant is getting can factor in the stress and overall health of the plant! Monsteras like to be root bound but I’d wait about 2 weeks to repot minimum if you’re really wanting to, it doesn’t look like you have to separate the plants up if you don’t want to. I have a monstera just like this and I trimmed the roots before putting them back in the same pot kinda facing the same way. The leaves will gradually turn and all face the same way depending on where their light is coming from. Since the weather is changing and you’re still figuring out lighting I would suggest to cut back on the watering a little bit in case it’s not over watered. I hope this helps!

Thanks for your help. I don't over-water it because I end up having to water it early since it is sucking the soil dry. Like I said it was growing well during the growing season. With the cooler weather, you can see I try and get my plants out in the warm sun on the table outside for about an hour or two. I was sure it needed to be repotted a couple of months back except for everything that happened. I want to add in a moss pole but I need to get the roots out of the drainage holes, find out which way is front for each of the plants, and get the aerial roots attached to the stakes properly. I was hoping this was the right time of season to do that.
