Guys I’m at the end of my tether! My gorgeous monstera gets gnats every time I water her. I am using a clay pot and specially made well draining soil and I wait ages between waterings so that she’s definitely dry. I also bottom water her so that her top layer remains dry. Yet she still gets these buggers!! Why? What am I doing wrong?? Maybe when I bottom water her, I get too keen and give her too much water?? She drank it all today though. Foliage, light and stems are fine - she is thriving other than the occasional gnat. Currently I have lots of vinegar pots around her Please can you enlighten me? Thank you!

I had a problem with fungus gnats and found a great solution online. If you get some neem oil (I got it on amazon). Mix 2 cups of water with 1 tablespoon of neem oil and 1 teaspoon of dish soap. Mix it and water with that. It will kill off the eggs in the soil. Then I use fungus gnat traps. Works every time.

I had gnats bad in all of my plants. I bought mosquito bites from Menards. It worked wonders. It took about a week to full kick in, but I haven’t seen a gnat in weeks.

I’m in the process of using Mosquito Bits for the second week. It seems to be helping. I do bottom water the majority of the time except now I add the Mosquito water to the top kill the larvae & make sure it’s well drained.

I saved an article about ridding your plant of fungus gnats using 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water when you water to kill the eggs in the soil and follow that up with misting 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts water to prevent the adults from reinfecting the soil. I have no idea if it really works but it shouldn’t hurt your plant as long as it is diluted. You can also try looking up the article on msn. I wasn’t able to link it here. Good luck!

Lots of good methods here. I keep mine away with mosquito bits. But I’m still plagued by fruit flies from my partner’s weekly bananas 🙃 Lol but yeah, there’s hope with fungus nats!

I use these drops every time I water - one drop per gallon. Haven’t had any issues with gnats since I began using :)
